By the time the giant had moved the boulder to open up part of the entrance to the cave, all my men were hanging from underneath the goats.

My goat was nearest the entrance. The giant put his hands out and felt the goat’s back, then pushed it out of the cave. One by one, my men escaped in the same way.

“Fool!” I shouted when we were all outside. “You are no match for me!”

The giant roared in anger. He crashed after us as we ran to the boats.

His blindness slowed him down but still we had to sprint to keep ahead of him.

In the boats we pulled hard on our oars. The giant stood at the water’s edge, bellowing. He picked up a huge rock and flung it at us.
